Harmac Navigates Pandemic with a Focus on Employees and Communities
April 24, 2020
These are difficult times, but please know all three of our facilities in Buffalo, NY, Castlerea, Ireland & Tijuana, Mexico are operating — and we’re doing all we can to support our employees and neighbors, as well as our customers and patients, during this challenge.
We’re keeping our team members safe, allowing us to continue producing critical medical devices for our customers and patients. This includes banning all nonessential visitors and checking the temperature of each employee who enters the building. We’ve installed Plexiglas barriers and provided employees with face shields. We’ve redesigned cafeterias and conference rooms to meet social distance guidelines, We’ve also added signage to remind us of healthy habits, and we wipe down our surfaces continuously.
We’ve also launched new community initiatives to help our most vulnerable neighbors. In Buffalo, we’ve provided face shields and masks to thousands of front-line healthcare workers. We’ve also partnered with not-for-profits to provide food and other necessities to Bailey Green residents. In Ireland, we’ve joined forces with the An Chistin Chef Training Centre in Castlerea to create a community kitchen and deliver hot meals to those who can’t leave home. And in Tijuana, we’re supporting a not-for-profit organization that assists the region’s elderly residents who have no family nearby to care for them.
Harmac’s vision is to change the lives of patients, employees and the communities in which we work – and our vision is stronger now than ever – but right now we recognize the need to change the order of our vision points, understanding that we must take care of those closest to us in order to keep serving our customers and patients at the highest levels.
