New Somers Park Enhances Landscape of Ireland’s County Roscommon

We were deeply moved earlier in June to see the County of Roscommon name and dedicate a beautiful park in Castlerea as “Somers Park,” in honor of the Somers family, for all of the great support our team members have shown the community since opening Harmac Ireland in 1998. Our late founder, Lewis Somers and his wife, Betty, instilled a deep sense of community support throughout our company — and throughout their family, as seen in the leadership of their children, including our current President & CEO John Somers, and their families.

We have steadily invested in the growth and enhancement of Somers Park over several years, highlighted by the recent ribbon-cutting of a new walking trail and outdoor exercise equipment along the park’s perimeter. Harmac partnered with the County of Roscommon Council, Town and Village Renewal Scheme and Town of Castlerea to fund the project. We hope this provides our fellow Castlerea residents with a variety of health and fitness options, in a wonderfully accessible community setting, for many decades to come.
